A Celebration of Life: Michael Orlando Garcia (1956–2026)

Michael Orlando Garcia never did anything halfway. If he was going to walk into a room, he was going to make an impression. If he was going to cook, he was going to make the best beans and chile you’d ever tasted—though fair warning, he was quite protective of those recipes; only a select few have been entrusted with his legendary bean recipe. If he was going to live, he was going to do it with a style and humor that brought a smile to everyone he met.

Michael passed away on April 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, perfectly clean floors, and a well-tended yard. Born on November 12, 1956, to Vicente and Manuelita Garcia, Michael spent his 69 years proving that life is meant to be enjoyed, not just lived.

He was a man of many talents and even more hobbies. Whether he was on the hunt for the best treasures at a yard sale, trying his luck at Bingo, or putting together an outfit that would make heads turn, Michael was always in his element. He was a neighbor who was always there to lend a hand or crack a joke.

Michael was a man who loved deeply. He leaves behind his beloved life partner, Vince Silva, and his children, April Cage, Crystal Garcia, and Daniel Garcia (with Karen). He was a proud, doting grandfather to Vennyce, Khannea, Joseph, Josiah, Mason, and Amelia, who will surely carry on his sense of fun.

He joins his parents and his siblings, Benjamin Dewy Brant, Harriet "Butchie" Brant, and Yvonne Chavez, in the great beyond. He is survived by his loving siblings, William and Matilda Garcia, who will miss his presence dearly, along with a wide circle of friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews who were all touched by his generous spirit.

Michael taught us that you don’t need a special occasion to dress up or a reason to help someone out—you just need a big heart and a bit of style. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will undoubtedly continue to bring smiles to our faces.

Services

A celebration of Michael’s life will take place on April 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.

A food reception will follow immediately after the service at the Rio Rancho Elk’s Lodge, 1530 Barbara Loop SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
