Michael Joseph Schlachter, age 73, passed away December 11, 2021, at his home in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born October 16, 1948, to Othmar and Lucille Schlachter (Haycox) in Huntingburgh, IN. He graduated from Huntingburg High School in the class of 1966. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married his loving wife, Carmengloria Schlachter December 31, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his father, Othmar Schlachter; his brothers, Robert Schlachter and James Schlachter; his son, Mitchell Schlachter; and his stepfather Dencil Haycox.
He is survived by his wife, Carmengloria Schlachter (Rio Rancho, NM); his mother, Lucille Haycox (Las Vegas, NV); his daughter, Christi and her husband Warren Offutt (Rio Rancho, NM); his son, Mark and his wife Yvette Schlachter (Las Vegas, NV); his daughter, Carrie Schlachter (Rio Rancho, NM); his son, Matthew and his wife Whitney Schlachter (Albuquerque, NM); his stepdaughter, Camila and her husband Brandon Gutierrez-Writtenberry (Albuquerque, NM); his 17grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers: Noel Schlachter and his wife Dee (Albuquerque, NM); Joseph Schlachter and his wife Rhonda (Jasper, IN); and Charles Haycox and his wife Melissa
(LAs Vegas, NV); his sisters: Carol Schlachter (CA) and Karen and her husband Steve Hornsby (Las Vegas, NV); and also his dog, Milo.
Michael's greatest treasure was spending time with his family. He also was an avid Lobos basketball fan and enjoyed watching their games with his best friend and brother, Noel. He had fun going out finding treasures as he called them with his metal detector when he wasn't working. He was always active and loved to work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
