Miles (Sam) Martin

July 20, 1942 — March 24, 2019

On March 24, 2019, the Martin family lost their beloved father, grandfather, and husband Miles (Sam) Martin.  A retired Navy and Vietnam War Veteran, and a retired New Mexico Corrections worker, he dedicated his life to his family and the service of others.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia MacDowell; father, Benjamin Martin; In-laws, Dilman and Ellen Lyon; brother, William Martin; and grandson, Jeremiah Young.  Miles (Sam) Martin is survived by his wife, Shirley of 46 loving years; his daughters, Karen Martin of Rio Rancho, NM, Nancy Young and husband Curtis of Gresham, OR, Debra Wagner and husband Andrew of Santa Fe; brother, Jim Martin and wife Dorothy of Santa Fe; sisters, Mary Nance of Dale, TX, and Donna Fowler and husband Dennis of Irving, TX; and grandchildren, Shaelyn Martin (Debra and Andrew), Isaiah Young (Nancy and Curtis), Jaden Young (Nancy and Curtis), Trey Young (Nancy and Curtis), and Abigail Wagner (Debra and Andrew).  Miles had an enormous impact on the lives of everyone he met.  He will be missed tremendously.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Celebration Baptist Church (Rio Rancho) or St. Jude.
