Miriam was a beloved member of Socorro; she had many friends and acquaintances. Miriam was primarily a homemaker, but enjoyed working at times, having worked at the Hilton Drug Store, Jerry’s restaurant, McDonalds, Federal Express, for the school systems as school aid, crossing guard and school bus monitor and later at Good Samaritan Village where she loved creating activities and engaging residents in joyful play that would enrich their day. She was a fierce supporter of Socorro Warriors often sewing Warrior blankets, for us and others. She was an artist, having some of her quilt work featured locally and, in the newspaper, one year she entered, modeled, and won a pageant creating her own design with recycled materials. She often submitted works of art and other categories of work into the Socorro County Fair in the areas of quilting, photography, and flowers. Many people described Miriam as kind and spunky. Later in life Miriam traveled to Mexico for vacation, and caught the travel bug, traveling to Hawaii, East and West Coasts and Mexico again. She’d often ask, when are we going again? She had many friends in Socorro, her bright smile and steadfast presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her well.
