With profound love and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Myriam Teresa Montes, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Myriam left this world on December 3, 2025, surrounded by the family she so lovingly devoted her life to.
Born on October 15, 1937, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Myriam grew up in the mountains of Las Marías, where the values of hard work, humility, and family were rooted deeply in her heart. At the age of 18, she moved to New York in search of new opportunities, an adventure that would shape the beautiful life she went on to build. It was there that she met the love of her life, Angel Montes, with whom she shared a devoted marriage and a lifetime of memories.
Together, Myriam and Angel welcomed two daughters, Jeannett and Yasmin, who became the center of their world. The family later relocated to San Francisco, California where they raised their daughters and created a home grounded in love and unity. In 1990, Myriam and Angel moved once more to Albuquerque, New Mexico—to be near their daughters and the grandchildren who brought them so much joy.
Myriam was a woman of extraordinary warmth. Her gentle soul, compassionate heart, and generous spirit made her a source of comfort and strength to everyone who knew her. She gave of herself freely and loved without limits. Her legacy is one of devotion—to family, to love, and to the quiet, meaningful moments that connect us all.
Myriam is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Angel Montes, her parents Tomas Roche and Lucila Diaz Roche, and her siblings Tomas Roche Jr., Wilson Robinson Roche, Iris Roche, Hilda Roche de Beauchamp, and Eleanor Roche de Pares.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Dr. Jeannett Zeman and her husband James, Yasmin Montano and her husband Ralph. Her adored grandchildren, Angelo Montano and his wife Stephanie, Anthony Montano and his wife Melissa, Stephanie Pickup and her husband Travis, Alexander Garcia, and Vanessa Lucero.
Myriam’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Yvonne, Mariano, Tatiana, Linda, Graziella, Angel, Athena, Marcelo, Mikayla, Emma, Vinny and Rosie, each one carrying a piece of her enduring love.
Her family will forever remember her soft voice, her giving hands, and the unconditional love she bestowed upon them. She leaves a legacy not only of family but of kindness, resilience, and a life beautifully lived.
May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones who went before her.
