Myrtle Marie Walter, 103 years, 8 months, 7 days old, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2010 in Farmington. She was born February 6, 1907 in Tracy, Minnesota to Ernest and Bessie Bauer. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ellis Walter, a son, John Ellis Walter, Jr. and a daughter, Viola Gould Meginness. She is survived by her daughters, Lucille Thompson of Farmington, and Dorothy Abbott Barnes of Scottsdale, Arizona and a brother, Harold Bauer of Rapid City, South Dakota. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 19 great- great grandchildren. Myrtle loved to travel, crochet, do crafts and photography. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the Pinon Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church in Farmington. While living in California she was a Youth Leader of the Primary Division and Pathfinder Leader with the church. In the mid 70’s Myrtle took her mother on a driving tour through New York and down to the Keys in Florida. Her mother lived to be 103 years, 8 months and 18 days old.
