Nathan Francis Malone

March 13, 1925 — October 31, 2010

The Rev. Nathan Francis Malone (Papa) of Farmington went peacefully to meet with the Son of God on Sunday, Oct. 31, in Farmington. He was born on March 13, 1925 in Des Moines, NM to Ned Oris Malone and Susie Biffle. He was raised in New Mexico and Idaho. He worked for BF Goodrich as a store manager for 23 years in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1951, God called him into the ministry. He pastored for 28 years in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1981, Nathan and his wife moved to Farmington to help their daughter, Carolyn, at ABC Ranch Child Care Center where he was lovingly called “Papa”. He loved being around people and especially enjoyed his time with children. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1947, where he served on the Attala. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Doris Crist Malone ( “Grandmother” as she was know at ABC Ranch), three children: Linda Jump (Mike) of Oklahoma City, OK, Nathan E. Malone (Kay) of Farmington and Carolyn Keaton (Mike) of Farmington, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren 5 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings: sisters, Nannie Bell Hahn, and Neddie Sue Springer, and brother, Jackie Glenn Malone. Pallbearers are Nathan’s grandchildren: Stephen Keaton, Kevin Keaton, Randy Jump, Darren Malone, Stacy Malone, and Ryan Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are his great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Viewing will be Thursday, November 4th, from 5 to 7pm at Cope Memorial Chapel of Farmington. Service will be Friday, November 5th, at 10:00 am at Cope Memorial Chapel, officiated by Ed Wolford, Pastor of Bloomfield Assembly of God Church. A special thanks to Fire Station #2 for always being there to help and to Bernadette, Eilleen, Oneta and the staff at Northwest New Mexico Hospice. Nathan has been entrusted to the care of Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington, in Farmington. (505)327-5142.
