Ngala Mfalme

MFALME - Ngala Mfalme (formerly known as Keith A. Harris) passed away on November 25, 2010 at his home in Corrales, NM. Ngala was born on December 7, 1964 in Cameroon, West Africa. He grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey and graduated from Plainfield High School. He attended Middlesex County College and then worked as an assistant manager at a women's apparel store. In 1992 he moved to Los Angeles where he served as an independent contractor while developing a career in music. Over a ten-year period, Ngala established a solid reputation in Los Angeles as a competent recording engineer and a versastile drummer/percussionist. His experience included playing with Reggae Dance Hall legend Eek-A-Mouse, jazz guitarist Peter White and Irish Folk Singer Maria Butterly. He also co-produced and recorded various artists. In 2002 he moved to Corrales where he was self-employed as a computer technician while he continued to pursue his musical interests. His computer clients included individuals as well as small businesses in Albuquerque, Corrales, Rio Rancho and Placitas. At the same time he became well known in the metropolitan area for his unique style of drumming. He served local artists representing various genres - R&B, Worldbeat, Jazz, Pop and Rock. One of the highlights of his career was touring New Zealand with Native Roots. He is survived by his parents Joe and Jean Harris, his brother and his spouse, Joey and Debbie Harris of Evans, GA; his sister, Allison Harris of Elizabeth, NJ; his nephew, David Harris, nieces, Danielle and Camille Harris and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
