Nina Armijo

January 13, 1938 — July 21, 2023

Albuquerque

Nina Armijo, the beloved wife of Maurice Armijo, transitioned to eternal glory peacefully on Friday, July 21st, 2023, at her Albuquerque family home while on Comfort-Care due to a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Nina was born on January 13th, 1938, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Paz and Juanita Maldonado, with ten siblings. Nina grew up in New Mexico and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1955. Mrs. Armijo worked for the Bernalillo County Courts as a Secretary and Bookkeeper for six years.

Her primary life purpose was that of a humble homemaker, attentive mother, and the most loving grandmother, focusing on compassionate and nurturing care that only she could provide for her family.

Nina met Maurice in the late 1950s; they secured their marriage bond on May 31st, 1958, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Nina and Maurice moved out of New Mexico briefly due to Maurice's engineering job with the General Electric Aircraft Engine business group. They returned from the Midwest in 1975, and Maurice retired from GE in 1990.

Nina's foundation in her Catholic faith is apparent in her participation in the Risen Savior and Pope John, the twenty-third Catholic Communities. She was active in the Cursillo Movement, Precana, Marriage-Enrichment Program, and Proclaimers of the Word initiative. She sang like an angel in the Spanish Choir. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and assisted in the Ministry for the Elderly.

Nina loved her family and created a beautiful home environment for them. She was passionate about baking and cooking, especially traditional New Mexican favorites. Her crocheting and sewing treasures are now cherished mementos.

Nina is survived by her husband, Maurice; four children, Maurice Dominick Armijo and his life-partner, John Knox of Santa Fe, New Mexico; David James (Juli Armijo) of Albuquerque, NM; Daniel Gregory (Wendy Armijo) of Maricopa, Arizona, and Denise (Chris Blewett) of Albuquerque, NM.

Grand Children: Brandon Dominick Armijo of Albuquerque, NM, Devon Zachary (Jessica Armijo) of NYC, NY; Donald James (Dalet Armijo) of Albuquerque, NM; Chad Aaron Armijo of Albuquerque, NM; Danielle Nicole Lujan of Albuquerque, NM; Taylor Louis (Jazmin Armijo) of Placentia, CA;     Jamie Mariah Armijo of Huntington Beach, CA; Jacob Pierre (Tanya Blewett) of Albuquerque, NM; Kaleb Dane (Sarah Blewett) of Albuquerque, NM; Danika Marie Blewett of Albuquerque, NM.
