Norman R. Yazzie "Aka Stormin Norman", age 67, passed away and went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, February 14, 2024, in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born July 16, 1956, in Rehoboth, NM to his parents, Marie and Harry Yazzie.
He was preceded in death by his parents: father, Harry H. Yazzie and mother, Marie S. Yazzie.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Beleen) Yazzie; son, Russell J. Yazzie; daughter, Devon S. Yazzie; sisters: Nasheen Yazzie, Aneva Yazzie, Charlene Yazzie, Charolette Yazzie, and Courtney Yazzie; grandchildren: Alexandra and Alison; his beloved pet, Dotty.
He graduated from Tohatchi High School, Tohatchi, NM. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, 1982, from New Mexico State University.
He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs – Road's Department/Department of transportation as Highway Engineer Supervisor for 35 years at the Shiprock, Gallup, Albuquerque, and Farmington.
His interest was sports, such as basketball, football, and music. He was a long time Green Bay Packers Fan. He was active in Lord’s Servants to Native Ministries, coaching youth basketball and baseball. He was a faithful servant in many Christian ministries on and off Native Reservation; actively involved in Bible studies and outreach ministries. He was a dedicated, passionate servant of Jesus Christ.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Anchor Pointe Church, 6751 Pasilla Rd NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144. Reception to follow.
