Olivia Shirleen Bretz passed peacefully in her childhood home, surrounded by family the evening of October 2nd.

Born to Shirley Bailey in Bell, California and blessed with Richard K. Bailey in Socorro, New Mexico, where she was raised and resided.

She is survived by her loving son, David Hicks; wife Michele Hicks, granddaughter Brianne Sykes and grandsons Payson and Rylan Hicks.

Her beautiful daughter, Suzanne Surratt, husband Rusty, and grandsons Trevor and Teryn Surratt.

Her siblings, Bill Bailey and Charli, Ted and Judy Bailey and Liz and David Winterrowd.

As well as several amazing great-grandchildren.

She will be greeted by her loving parents, her beloved son, Kerry Hicks, and her loving and adoring husband, Robert Bretz.

A loving staple in Socorro, Shirleen found her purpose in teaching and mentoring those she loved. She was a Tech graduate with a Bachelor's in Biology and a Masters in Biochemistry. She used her knowledge and skills to inspire young minds in her community.

Not only was she an amazing wife, mother and grandmother, but she touched many young hearts over the course of her teaching career.

She never missed a game for her boys and was always welcomed with so many loving hugs and smiles from former students and friends.

She was the epitome of Grace and Love and will live in our hearts forever.

Celebration of Life for those who can join us will be Friday, October 13th at The Baca House Brewery Patio in Socorro at 11:00 a.m.
