Pamela G. Chavez (Jantzen), age 79, passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 11th, 2022. She was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico on May 4th, 1943, to Jose Florencio Chavez and Esther Sandoval Chavez. In 1962, she married Carlos Chavez in Taos, New Mexico. Pam graduated from Taos High School in 1961. She graduated from the Hollywood Institute of Fashion in 1987, studying Fashion Merchandising. She worked for the Veterans Affairs Hospital for twelve years. Pamela was an ordained minister and member of the Jesus First Parish. She loved crafts and making arrangements and centerpieces.
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Esther Chavez, brothers, Dennis P. and Robert R. Chavez, sister, Sandy J. Chavez, and sons, Stephen J. Chavez and Travis S. Chavez. She is survived by her sister, Yolanda R. Ankeny of Albuquerque, New Mexico, son, Charles Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly A. Altamirano-Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as seven Grandchildren, two Great-Grandchildren, and her cat, Naomi.
Pamela was a devoted mother of three sons, raising them on her own. She worked two jobs most of her life as an administrative assistant by day and waitress by night. In retirement, she and her sister, Yolanda, dedicated their lives to the service of our lord Jesus. Together they founded Women in Need Ministries, WIN, through which they helped hundreds of women and children, financially and spiritually. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, friend, confidant, and spiritual advisor. Her fervent prayers and silly sense of humor will be greatly missed, but the love she had for us all will be felt forever.
