💜💜💜Patricia Isabel Duran, aka Patsy, age 63 fought long and hard with Pancreatic Cancer from February 2023 until she was called home with the Lord on Thursday, April 11th, 2024 in her wonderful home surrounded by an abundance of love and family.
Born to Elias and Virginia Duran on July 15th, 1960, in Dixon, New Mexico, Patricia Duran was the beloved mother of five children. Errol Bennett Jr, Virginia Bennett, Violetta Bennett, Fernando Duran Jr, and Veronica Duran. She was the most amazing hands-on, involved Grandmother to Lourdess Acosta, Alexander Acosta, and Ariana Acosta. She is survived by her six siblings, Teresita Vigil, Ernestine Coleman, Issac Duran, Concha Duran, and Lillian Maestas. She was preceded in death by her younger sister Veronica Duran.
She was a proud scholar and loved school. She went to the New Mexico School for the Deaf in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from kindergarten until she graduated.
She then proceeded to college at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana where she had a full scholarship and was working towards law school, but then she got pregnant with Errol and became a full time mother.
She touched the lives of many through her many passions, which included but weren’t limited to the Deaf Community, her church, and the Deaf Grassroots Movement. Her favorite past time was family time above all but some other ones included, reading, puzzles, puzzle books like word search and crosswords, watching game shows like Family Feud and Wheel Of Fortune, taking tons of time, love, and care to sew something by hand. She also loved reaching out to all of you through Facebook, where she felt she could support and cheer for you online.
Her friends and family were her entire world. Her children gave her strength to remain positive, patient, and persistent during rough times, but also gave her laughter, joy, hope, and will to persevere. Patricia’s artistic eyes found beauty in everything around her, which allowed her to re-create and reciprocate beauty all throughout her life. She was so proud of her kids, her family, and her friends. We will forever cherish the stories our fun-loving Mother shared with us and hope to share and laugh about them with you all one day!
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at her wonderful Netherwood Park Church of Christ located at 5101 Indian School Rd, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110.
We know that she would like everyone to be welcomed, for that was the kind of social butterfly she was. Please know that she loves you all and her love is eternal.. she painted a masterpiece of love, resilience, and unwavering determination. A remarkable mother, her eyes sparkled with warmth, her smile, a beacon of hope. Being deaf did not diminish her spirit; instead, it ignited a fierce flame of creativity and a connection with many people from different walks of life. Her hands wove tales of courage, warmth, and unwavering strength, speaking volumes through gestures and tender embraces. As she navigated life's joys and challenges with unparalleled grace... As pancreatic cancer darkened her path, she faced each day with courage that knew no bounds, inspiring all who knew her with her indomitable spirit. In her final moments, surrounded by the embrace of her loved ones, she found peace. Her legacy of love and strength endure far beyond her earthly journey. Though she may have departed this world, her extraordinary legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, a testament to the power of resilience, love, and the human spirit💜💜💜
We would love to invite anyone to bring any homemade crafts, artwork, flowers, balloons, or miscellaneous items to share and display, and if they could display the ILY sign in ASL that would be most amazing!
