Obituary

Patricia Lou Gerber (Patty), age 72, passed through the veil on March 9, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on August 8, 1953, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Patrick and Louise Gerber.

Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Patrick J. Gerber, and her nephew, Patrick W. Gerber.

She is survived by her mother, Louise Gerber; her three children and their families: Gregory Dunlap, Joslynn Gerber, and Danielle Allen. She is also survived by her siblings and their families: Nancy Lamkin, Scheryl Weaver, and Darrell Gerber. Patricia was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and a great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren.

Patty lived most of her life in Albuquerque. She had a vibrant personality and loved staying active. Her love for horses was proven by her passion and skill for rodeo and barrel racing in her youth. She attended both Valley and West Mesa High School, where she was actively involved in the 4-H Club, the cheerleading squad, played clarinet in band, and had an affinity for softball. She later continued her education at New Mexico State University.

Shortly after, she was introduced to motherhood in her early 20’s, giving birth to her firstborn child, Gregory. Nearly ten years later, she welcomed her second child, Joslynn, to the world. Shortly after, her youngest daughter, Danielle, joined the family. Without hesitation, Patricia embraced the love and chaos of being a single parent. This helped transform Patty into the woman everyone knew her as in life. Her matriarchal role was solidified with the births of her grandchildren. She effortlessly encompassed the emotional, social, and caregiving roles of being a grandmother. Being “Nana” to her grandchildren was something that she loved immeasurably. This was proven by her unwavering support for their interests, hobbies, talents, and endeavors. She never hesitated to assist in any way imaginable.

Outside of her love for her family, she had a deep connection to and love for animals, especially her dogs. She enjoyed supporting the arts by listening to live music and dancing. She dedicated time to learning new skills, like playing guitar. Her bubbly and open personality made it easy to make connections with strangers. She also spent years of her life crafting for her family and for craft shows, proving her talents were endless.

Patricia dedicated over 30 years of her career to managing a medical office, where she was known for her patient advocacy, dedication, organization, and care for the people she worked with. She enjoyed her work, and she was an inspiration to those around her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to support Breast Cancer Awareness at donor.komen.org (http://donor.komen.org/), a cause that Patricia cared deeply about.
