Obituary

Paul Frank Torres, age 64, passed away on April 29, 2026. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on May 16, 1961, to Frank and Lorraine Torres, who preceded him in death.

Paul leaves behind his loving sisters, Geraldine Sandoval and husband Nicholas, and Veronica Anaya and husband Brian; his brothers, John Torres and wife Mendy, and Joseph Torres; his sister-in-law Amanda Torres, wife of his late brother Damian Torres; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply. He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved life partner, Gene Apodaca, his treasured dog Wedo, and those family members who went before him.

Paul attended Rio Grande High School, Class of 1979, and later graduated from the University of New Mexico, Class of 1984. He built a successful career with Costco, where he served in Senior Management. After retiring, Paul found a new calling caring for elderly individuals. He took great pride in helping others, showing patience, compassion, and dedication in meeting their needs. Later, he lovingly devoted himself to caring for his mother.

Paul found great joy in being surrounded by family and friends, sharing good meals, laughter, and heartfelt conversations. He loved to travel and had a deep appreciation for art. His home was filled with beautiful works created by many New Mexico artists, and with nearly every piece came a story that Paul delighted in sharing. He also enjoyed peaceful nature walks with his beloved dog Wedo. Paul treasured taking photographs at every opportunity—capturing places he visited, the beauty of nature, and precious moments with family and friends.

For the past year and a half, Paul’s family had the privilege of caring for him. In true Paul fashion, he only allowed them to do what he wished—driving him to doctor’s appointments, helping clean, and cooking meals. Through this time, they discovered just how many lives Paul had touched. With more than 1,000 contacts on his Facebook account, countless friends shared stories of his kindness and warmth. Many spoke of waking each day to Paul’s cheerful “Good Morning” messages. Those daily greetings, and the love behind them, will be deeply missed by so many.

Family and friends remember Paul as an amazing person with a beautiful soul. He was a once-in-a-lifetime rare and loving friend, an inspiration to others with his smile, sense of humor, and ability to light up any room. He was often the life of the party, bringing joy wherever he went. He loved deeply and cherished his family and friends. He always told stories about how proud he was of each one of his family members. He never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Paul was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He also believed deeply in the power of the Universe and the energy we bring into the world. He often shared that the positivity you give is what you receive in return. He encouraged others to be the energy they wished to attract, to speak more positivity than negativity, and to trust that blessings follow a kind and generous spirit.

Paul leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and connection. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his “Good Morning” spirit will forever greet us in our hearts.
