Paul Richard Montoya

Paul Richard Montoya passed away suddenly on July 3, 2010. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on December 20, 1948 to Tómas and Priscilla Montoya (both now deceased) and lived in Alameda throughout his childhood. Paul’s family and friends were the center of his life. He is survived by his daughter Bailey Montoya; also surviving are his daughter Michelle Lohkamp and husband Steven; grandchildren, Miranda and Logan; sister Flora Sánchez and husband Sam; brothers Thomas and wife Ruth, David and wife Pam, Clarence and wife Laura and sister Teresa Valverde and husband Marvin as well as 14 nieces and nephews and six grandnieces and grandnephews. He graduated from Valley High School in 1966, earned a B.A. in Education from the University of New Mexico, and earned an MBA in Health Care Management from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. With a broad background in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, he served as district and regional representative for several major Fortune 500 companies in California, Delaware, Georgia, New York, and Texas and received numerous honors and awards for sales management and business development, as well as District and Region of the Year awards. Paul owned property near San Antonio, Texas. It was there that Paul fulfilled his dream of hosting many annual family reunions for the Fourth of July. He had recently moved back to Albuquerque to be with family and was working at Montoya Construction. Paul’s lifetime hobby and passion was building and flying model airplanes. Throughout the years, he made many friends with whom he spent many hours pursuing the joy of flying. Paul’s sudden death was a shock to all and he will be missed by all who loved him deeply. A Rosary will be recited at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; Wednesday July 7, 2010 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday June 8, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. also at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
