Phil Ernesto
Miera
July 15, 1938 – March 1, 2026
Phil E. Miera
Phil E. Miera, 87, was born on July 15, 1938, in Lyden, New Mexico, to Acencion and Filadelfio Miera. He passed away peacefully while in hospice on March 1, 2026, with his daughter, Elaine, and his son, Mika, by his side until the end.
Phil was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He and his beloved wife, Clara, were the glue that kept their family together. Phil taught those around him to love and respect others and instilled the virtues of faith, hard work, generosity, and gratitude in his family.
He loved his family deeply, and they loved him dearly in return. Phil often expressed his affection by saying, “I love you big, bigger, biggest.” In his 87 years, he touched many lives and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Phil grew up in Lyden, New Mexico, where he lived a humble life with his four siblings. He was the first in his family to attend college and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business, with a minor in Music. Throughout his life, Phil enjoyed playing the guitar and trumpet and writing poetry.
Phil and Clara met, courted, and were married in December 1957. They shared 66 wonderful years of marriage and built a loving home together. They raised three children—Elaine M. Herrera, Mika E. Miera, and Dean Francis Miera—with unending love, care, wisdom, and devotion. The values they taught were carried on and passed down to the younger generations of their family.
Phil embraced life and God’s creation. He found great joy in spending time outdoors, surrounded by nature and its beauty. His faith was an important part of his life. As a young man, he served as an altar boy and later became a member of the Penitente Brotherhood.
Phil and Clara were blessed with a large and loving family, including three children, three in-laws, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest treasure, and each held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clara; his son, Dean Francis Miera; his parents, Acencion and Filadelfio Miera; and three of his siblings.
Phil will be deeply missed until the day we are reunited again in heaven with our Lord Jesus. He will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him as MGA, Dad, Daddy, Papa Bear, Papa, Pops, Uncle, Brother, and Friend.
