Philip “Phil” Lopez a beloved husband, dad, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend, has entered eternal rest on July 24, 2023, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on November 19, 1969, in Albuquerque, NM.
Phil was proceeded in death by his grandparents, (maternal) Carmen and Ernesto Alderete, (paternal) Esther and Raymondo Lopez, Parents, Maria “Susie” Alderete-Lopez and William “Bill” Lopez.
Phil is survived by his wife, Kristina Ross Lopez, children, Matthew Lopez and Alexandria Lopez, sister, Lori Resendiz and spouse, Hipolito “Polo” Resendiz. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Phil served as a firefighter for the City of Gallup for 20 years, retiring as an Assistant Fire Chief; and currently serving with the Pueblo of Acoma—Fire Department as a Captain. He was known for his love for family gatherings, sports, Harleys and Hotrods, and the outdoors. Phil was a champion wrestler and a respected coach.
Services will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on Monday, July 31st, 2023. Rosary will be recited at 10:00am, Mass to follow at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho, NM.
Pallbearers include Raymond Ross, Esco Chavez, Domnick Riffle, Clyde Joseph Espinosa, Mike Sekiya, Gerald Lopez, Ray Romero, and Pete Romero. Honorary Pallbearers include Selena Menapace, Sarah Baca, John Ryan Gutierrez, Dominic Gutierrez, Andrea Langley, Isaac Espinosa, Amber Gutierrez, Emily Langley, Michael Resendiz, Jessica Resendiz, and David Resendiz.
Daniels Family Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
