Phillip Robert Vouterin

Phillip Robert Vouterin passed away and joined his beloved sisters on December 20, 2021. Phillip was born November 10, 1931 at the old St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was loved by his family and friends and was known to all by various nicknames including Phil, Robert, Sonny, Uncle and Mr. V. He is survived by his two brother-in-laws and many cousins, nieces and nephews who will greatly miss his gentle nature and overwhelming kindness.

 

He is preceeded in death by his father Phillip Vouterin who was born in Manari, Tripoli, Greece and his mother, Theresa Crollett Vouterin-Hernanadez who was born in the Plaza de Albuquerque; his stepfather, Eleazar Carpio Hernandez; and his dear sisters Christine Vouterin, Gloria Vouterin Quintana, and Josephine Hernandez Fevig. He is also proceeded in death by his grandfather Seferino Crollett from Santa Fe and grandmother Christina Perea Crollett from Corrales. He was very proud of his family’s legacy in establishing the Crollett Mortuary in Albuquerque.

 

Phillip grew up in the Barelas area where he learned to swim underneath the Barelas Bridge. After graduating from Albuquerque High School, he enlisted in the Air Force on June 12, 1951 and served four years during the Korean War until July 11, 1955. He started his assignment at Elmandorf AFB in Anchorage, AK and ended his military career at Walker AFB in Roswell, NM. He was Honorably Discharged on November 2, 1958.

 

After his separation from the service, he was employed by the US Post Office for a brief time and then began his employment at Sandia National Laboratories on April 15, 1957. Having served various assignments, he retired as a Division Supervisor of the service organization on January 2, 1992.

 

Following his retirement, he enjoyed the single life, doing home improvements, gardening and spending quality time with his sisters. He especially enjoyed their regular lunches together in Barelas and was deeply heartbroken when they passed away.

 

A Private Family Viewing will be held Monday, January 10th, 2022 at 4:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services Wyoming Chapel located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque NM, 87109.

Services will held Tuesday, January 11th at 10 am at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, a Roman Catholic Church located 11509 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112, with a burial to follow at Fairview Memorial Park located at 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
