Polly Mares

Polly Mares passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021 in her home in Bernalillo, NM at the age of 68.

Polly is survived by her brothers, Gene Mares of Aurora, CO, Moses Mares of Albuquerque, NM, and Robert Mares Sr. of Bernalillo, NM; sisters, Ruby Mares of Mora, NM and Gina Mares of Las Vegas, NM; godson and nephew, Robert Mares Jr. of Rio Rancho, NM; many nephews and nieces; and her beloved pet, Echo. She is preceded in death by her father, Jose Napoleon Mares; her mother, Dominga Mares; and her sister, Frances Sanchez.

Polly was born on October 15, 1952 in Cheyenne, WY to Jose Napoleon Mares and Dominga Mares. She attended Mora High School and graduated in 1971. She graduated college from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of University Studies in 1992.

Polly was a generous and dedicated individual who loved being creative and who was passionate about making art and pottery. She loved traveling, camping, watching movies, and reading. Most of her weekends were spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

A rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 13, 2021 with a prayer service to follow at Daniels Family Funeral Services – Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd SE 87124.
