MASON - Raburn (Bud) Mason, 81, of Albuquerque, formerly of Ruidoso, NM and El Paso, TX, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 following a brief illness. Mr. Mason was born August 20, 1928 in Lamesa, TX to Sam and Oneita Mason. He was raised in Petersburg, TX. Upon graduation from Petersburg High and court reporting school, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he married Creola Rector of Spur, TX on June 28, 1953. They settled in McCamey, TX where he served as Mayor for several years. Mr. Mason was a Court Reporter, serving district courts and later owning the Raburn Mason Court Reporting firm in the El Paso area before retiring in 1995. He and Cre enjoyed playing golf at El Paso Country Club and were involved in Western Hills United Methodist Church. They moved to Alto, NM in 1996 to enjoy golf, hiking and visiting with many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and a son, Raburn Mason Jr. He is survived by daughters Rebecca Kenny and her husband, Alex, of Albuquerque; and Kimberly Strange and her husband, Mark, of Houston, TX; and a son Marcus Clay Mason, and his wife Valerie of Lantana, TX; sister Thelma Bryant of Lufkin, TX; and grandchildren Cameron Kenny, Kyle Kenny, Elizabeth Strange, Mason Strange, Brighton Mason, and Tyler Mason. The family plans a celebration of Bud's life next summer at a favorite hiking location in southern New Mexico.
