On December 23, 2018, Ralph DeFilippo left this world. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Wendy DeFilippo. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne, his sister Joyce Brown, her husband Charlie Brown, and their family; his sister Dr. Flora Jean DeFilippo, her daughter Joyce Scholtz and husband Mark and their family. And his dog Roscoe. Mr. DeFilippo was a Vietnam veteran having served in the Marine Corps during the war. He was an unsung hero, going on to work at Los Alamos labs, Rocky Flats, and many other facilities in this country, dedicating his life to protecting his country from the threats most of us never even see, so that we could be free to live our lives in peace. He did this quietly, never expecting or receiving any thanks for his work, and I fully expect that he continues to watch and protect from where he is now, because thatâs the kind of man he was. He lived his life to be the best example to others he could be, and had the best sense of humor of anyone I know.  I am very blessed to have the honor to call this man my dad.
He will be buried with full honors at the National Cemetery, and those details will be published as soon as the dates have been set. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that every person who wishes to contribute to my dadâs memory do so by volunteering an hour or more to the less fortunate in my dadâs name. He never took credit for anything he did in life, and I believe he would be honored to know that others are willing to donate their time to the less fortunate in his memory.
Dad, I love you and miss you very much, and couldnât have asked for a better dad.
