Ramona "Mona" Anglada

May 3, 1938 — February 22, 2022

Our beautiful, precious mother, Ramona “Mona” Anglada, left to be with our Lord and her beloved on Tuesday, February 22nd surrounded by her closest family. She was born in Taos, NM to Jose Avila and Agnes (Ignacia) Romero. She was the youngest of five. She graduated from Taos High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Jose “Roy” Anglada in 1965 and they were together until his death in 2005.

She was smart and tough, organized, and had a gift with numbers. She taught us all the value of setting goals, making plans, and taking steps to achieve. She had several different jobs, real estate, bookkeeper, Navy wife, but most important, MOM.

She was fiercely passionate about family and keeping our family together. She had great faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She taught us all the love of our Lord and she welcomed all. She loved to spoil her grandkids tremendously with love and anything they wanted or needed. She spent years traveling the world with her family and loved hosting family events e.g. Christmas Party, Matanzas, Super Bowl parties, but she especially loved gathering the family for the annual Balloon Fiesta family party and Ski Trips.

She loved football but especially her Cowboys. She loved Wheel of Fortune and would watch daily with her peanuts and beer. She loved music and dancing and taught us all to love it as well. She would search out live music whenever she could. She loved “happy hour”. She truly lived. She would describe her struggles in youth but showed all of us her strength to overcome any and everything. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and defend the people she loved. She was the glue and fighting force behind all her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She will be so deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Roy Anglada, her sister and brothers, Cedelia Montoya, Pete Avila, and Joe Avila. She is survived by her children, Richard Anglada (Anna Marie), Casey DeRaad (Billy), Carla Knudsen (Arnie) and Melissa Dean (Eric); Grandchildren, William DeRaad (Kelsey), Loren Gallegos (AJ), Jessica Baca (Nikko), Jordan DeRaad, Hannah Knudsen, Dylan DeRaad, Cruz Dean, Roman Dean, Tanisha Herrera (Randy) and Damian Medina (Felisha); Sister, Mary Alice Winter (Ed) and countless close nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A rosary will be held in her honor on Friday, March 18th at 6pm at Daniels Funeral home, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. A “Celebration of Life” mass will be held at Prince of Peace Parish on Saturday, March 19th at 11 am with a gathering to follow.
