Ramona R. Montoya

It is with great sorrow to announce that Ramona R. Montoya of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away on May 13th, 2022, on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima at the age of 83.

Mona was born on December 8th, 1938, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception to Luis and Dora Romero in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She attended Loretto Academy from first grade through high school. On January 24, 1959, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Ben at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe. They had four children. Mona was a loving, dedicated wife, and mother, always there for her family with her encouragement and prayers. She was also very passionate about the various employment positions she held as a secretary at St. Vincent’s hospital, Co-manager of a Travelodge in Roseburg, Oregon, Co-owner, and manager of a Travelodge and a paralegal, in El Paso Texas. Mona and Ben retired in 1998 and moved to Rio Rancho New Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her parents Luis and Dora, and sisters Adelina Major, and Louise Montoya.

She is survived by her husband Ben of 63 years, children Dora Angela, David Anthony and wife Leah, Michael Edward, and wife Martha, Paul Andrew, and wife Cathryn, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as her brother Frank and wife Dolores, sister Dora and husband Leroy, many nieces and nephews, and life-long friends.

Mona was a great prayer warrior who knew the power of prayer. She will be greatly missed, but faith tells us her prayer will now be even more powerful.

A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass to follow on Monday, June 6th, 2022, at the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.
