Ray Alex Atencio

Ray Alex Atencio, 77, of Bloomfield, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. He was born February 23, 1933, in Blanco, New Mexico, to Lucy and Alex Atencio. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Paul and Anthony Atencio; paternal and maternal grandparents; and brothers, Leo and Rubel Atencio. Ray attendrd public school in Blanco, New Mexico. He was in the army for one year. In 1957, he married Nora Gomez at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Blanco. They were married for 53 years. Ray worked construction for 40 years with Local Union 16 and proudly retired to be with his wife and family.He enjoyed horse racing, fishing, gardening, but mostly spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Nora; four loving daughters, JoAnn, Belinda, Rayna, and Raynor; brother, Bennie; sisters, Patsy and Rosey; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
