Ray Montoya, 60 of Turley, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010. He was born on October 17, 1949 to Louis Montoya, Sr. and Eva (Gutierrez) Montoya in Farmington, NM. He was a lifelong resident of San Juan County and was known and loved by many people throughout the area. Ray retired from the Labor Union Local # 16. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend. It was said that he truly had a heart of gold and would never hesitate to lend a helping hand. Many friends remember him for his love of fishing, especially for those Brown Trout. He will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian Lopez; son, Christopher Lopez, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Angelica Lopez; brother, Anthony Montoya; and grandson, James Calvillo. He is survived by his sons, Louis Montoya (Lisa), and Ray Lopez; brother, Louis Montoya, Jr. (Lupe); sisters, Gloria Rodriguez (Apolonio), Irene Morales and Catalina Hernandez (Pete); Six grandchildren, Christopher Lopez, Jr., Jeremy Lopez, Elijah Montoya, Alycia Montoya, Miley Montoya and soon to be Sophia Montoya; and great-grandchild, Arravella Lopez.
