Raymond Gridley Fogg

Fogg, Raymond Gridley 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2014. He was born in Palo Alto, California on December 30, 1927 to Raymond Gridley Sr. and Marion (Wetherill) Fogg. He graduated from Tucumcari High School in Tucumcari, NM in 1946. After graduation he went to sea with his father, Captain Raymond Fogg, sailing from the United States to the orient in large cargo ships. From 1954 to 1956, Raymond proudly served in the United States Army in Korea, afterwards joining the Merchant Marines. For many years Raymond served on cargo ships as an able bodied seaman, sailing the west coast of California to Alaska and it's inter-coastal waterways. In 1961 he moved back to Tucumcari, helping with various family farming and ranching activities. In 1993 he moved to Socorro, NM to assist in the care of his elderly mother. Raymond became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society of Socorro in 2011. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Marion (Wetherill)Shaffner and Raymond Fogg Sr as well as his brother Ricky Shaffner. Raymond is survived by his devoted brother, James W. Shaffner and wife, Marie; nieces, Lou Ann Aperto and husband, Lanwood; Lynette Langlouis and husband, Phillip; and Catherine Ynigues; and his nephew, Raymond Reeves and wife, Blair. There are no services scheduled at this time.
