Raymond Lee Newby

Raymond Lee Newby January 12, 1929 - July 24, 2010 Raymond Lee Newby, 81, of Bloomfield, went to heaven on Saturday, July 24, 2010. Raymond was born January 12, 1929, near Rocky Ford, CO. The Newby family moved to the Cortez, CO. area in 1933, settling at Arriola. Raymond was raised farming, winning the Colorado pure seed show the pinto beans in 1948. Louise Ellen Hillyer and Raymond were married December 15, 1950. Raymond went into the army in 1951, and saw action in the Korean War. He then worked for Southern Union Gas Company from 1953 until his retirement , having worked at Barker Dome, Lowry Camp, Lybrook Plant and Kutz Plant. Raymond nd Ellen took an active part in raising their nephew, Dale Stevenson. Ellen passed away in 1996. Raymond found love again, and married Bobbie Evans in 1999. Raymond enjoyed farming, hunting, traveling, church activities and helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Florence Newby; and his brothers, Herbert, Johnnie and Kenneth. Raymond is survived by his wife, Bobbie, and her family; sisters, Edith Likes and Nadine Robison; brothers, Jim, and Charles Newby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
