Rica Murrietta

Rica Murrietta passed away on October 8, 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was 81. She was born on May 10, 1929 in San Mateo, New Mexico to Elijio Marquez and Emeteria Romero Marquez. Mrs. Murrietta was a life resident of the Grants area. She graduated from Union High School. She was a devoted member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she was active with the ladies prayer group, english and spanish choirs. She worked as a bookkeeper in several area businesses. She also served as an election worker for city and county elections. She enjoyed spending time at the casinos and being with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Alfonso Murrietta of the family home. Six Children: Eloisa R. Morrow and her husband Gary of Abilene, TX., Cecilia R. Murrietta of Milan, NM., Stephen R. Murrietta and his wife Tracy, Patricia R. Murrietta, Janet R. Murrietta all of Grants, NM., and Andrew R. Murrietta and his wife Shelli of Albuquerque, NM. 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; Elijio and Emeteria Marquez. A visitation will take place on Monday October 11, 2010 at 6:00 PM at St. Teresa Catholic Church. A rosary vigil will then follow at 7:00 PM led by Deacon Timoteo Lujan. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Edwin Bryan on Tuesday October 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM also at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Pallbearers include: Louie Sarracino, Gabriel Marez, Raymond Murrietta, Paul Murrietta, Eric Murrietta, Joseph Castor, Russell Montoya and Sheldon Kauitzsch. Honorary Pallbearers include: Gary Morrow, Jeronimo Salazar, her grandchildren, great-children, great-great grandchildren and all of her friends from the St. Teresa prayer group.
