Richard Brian Chmielewski

Mr. Rich Chmielewski died peacefully in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on Monday February 14, 2022, at the age of 70.

Rich is survived by his wife Deborah Chmielewski of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and by his brother Philip Chmielewski, S.J., of Los Angeles, California. He is preceded in death by his mother Stella (Uliasz) Chmielewski and father Frank Chmielewski.

Rich was born to Stella (Uliasz) Chmielewski and Frank Chmielewski on Monday May 14, 1951, in Harvey, Illinois. Rich graduated from Thornton Fractional North High School, Calumet City, Illinois, in 1969. He then attended and graduated from Ivy Tech – Indianapolis, Indiana, with an associate degree in 1973. Rich married Ms. Deborah Solich on Saturday, May 22, 1976, in St. Victor, Calumet City, Illinois. Throughout their 45 years together he cherished his selflessly devoted wife.

Rich worked in and then managed in the steel and petroleum industries for 40 years. Constantly inquisitive concerning machine and electronic technologies, he also relished music, especially guitar. Rich was also interested in electronic music and learning new instruments. He also enjoyed automotive technologies, pyrotechnics, and dog training.  Rich was marked by a bond with his dog. He displayed deep generosity and constant loyalty to his friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on May 14, 2022 at 10:30am at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. A private inurnment will take place at later date.
