Richard Gerard Vigil passed away suddenly on December 20, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM, where he was born. He was 64 years old, born on March 14, 1958. Rick, as he was known by his family and friends, attended schools in Albuquerque and graduated from El Dorado High School in May of 1976 and shortly after he briefly went to New Mexico State University where he studied Electrical Engineering. He then joined the United States Air Force and was sent to Ramstein AFB in Germany, he proudly served for 3 years. He then returned to the United States and served 7 more years.

He was married to former Joann Rice of Albuquerque, NM and they had two daughters, Nicole, and Monica, when he returned to the United States they got divorced and shortly after got transferred to Austin, TX where he met his second wife, Lisa Vollmert. Lisa and Rick had 2 children, son Gavin and daughter Serenity. His wife Lisa, son Gavin and daughter Serenity are still living in Austin, TX.

Rick loved sports and played in both the Roadrunner Little League and Young American Football League, which was coached by his father, Richard Vigil, who passed away in 2021. He also enjoyed making pottery, he would make the most beautiful vases and pots. He loved fishing and would spend most of his time fishing in the Pecos River and Yellowstone National Park as well as many other lakes and rivers. Another enjoyment of his was playing Paint Ball and Disk Golfing.

Rick was preceded in death by his two brothers, Michael Anthony Vigil and Randall James Vigil, as well as his father, Richard Vigil. He is survived by his beloved wife Lisa, son Gavin and daughter Serenity of Austin, TX as well as his daughters Nicole Howland of Rio Rancho, NM and Monica Polambo of Albuquerque, NM; his sister Elizabeth Guthrie (Rob) of Carversville, PA; his mother Bernice Vigil, step-mother Louise Vigil, step-sister Linda Gonzales (David) all from Albuquerque, NM, as well as his step-brother Larry Pena (Carole) of Houston, TX and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Rob Guthrie, Gavin Vigil, Ted, and Dave Romanik.
