Richard McCartney

March 8, 1937 — January 6, 2022

“We didn’t realize we were making memories; we just knew we were having fun.”

Richard McCartney, 84, passed away peacefully with his wife of 62 years at his side on January 6, 2022.

Rich is survived by his wife Bette, 4 children: Audrey Kullman (Tom), Carol Jacobus (Mark), Richard S. McCartney, and Erin Barauskas (Joe); 10 grandchildren; and 3 greatgrandchildren.

He was an only child but was blessed with many lifelong friends who were like family.

Rich spent his entire life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in early 2021.

He was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School and Penn State University.  To say Rich loved the Steelers and Penn State would be an understatement.  He was a season ticket holder for both for years and a loyal fan.  He was an avid golfer, Little League coach, and president of Rotary.  Rich spent his career in the finance industry and was the best damn Poppa ever.

Visitation and funeral service will be held at Daniels Family Funeral Home, 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE, Albuquerque New Mexico, 87109 on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 2 pm followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to the Jacobus home after the interment.

Donations may be made in honor of Rich to either the American Diabetes Association or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

WE ARE…. PENN STATE!
