Nez died April 15, 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born June 28, 1936, In Ganado, Arizona. He was Yellowhouse clan born for the Red Running into the Water clan. He graduated from Ganado Mission high school in 1956, joined the US Navy and Was honorable discharged. He worked as a dental technician in his earlier years. “Rick” was employed with Ft. Defiance Indian Hospital as a pharmacy technician, Then worked with a family business He retired after 25 years with Navajo Tribal Utility Authority in 2003. He received various employment, bowling and golfing Awards. He had numerous hobbies, including bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, Art work, and playing horseshoes. He was an avid fan of Arizona sports teams. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley. Son Aaron wife Freda of Gamerco, New Mexico. Michael, wife Jacqueline of Phoenix, Arizona, Daughter Cheryl Longie, husband, Skip of Devils Lake, North Dakota. 6 Grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilson J. and Naomi (Hill) Nez, Brothers Edward, Jack, and Robert Nez. And son Darrell P. Nez. Pallbearers include Brian Nez, Richard Nez, David Nez, Marques Conley, Keith Bowen Jr. and Jordan Longie.
