Obituary

Richard M. Stewart (Rick), 74, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away on June 9, 2026.

Richard was born on June 1, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana.  He attended West Mesa High School in Albuquerque.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Wheat and his sister, Linda Torres.  He is survived by his sister, Becky Wright of LAs Cruces, New Mexico, his sister, Laura Juarez and brother-in-law, Richard Juarez of Rio Rancho; along with many nieces and nephews.

He lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and a passion for the things he loved most.  He dedicated 30 years of service to United Parcel Service (UPS) where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues through his strong work ethic and commitment.

Outside of work, Richards was an enthusiastic fan of NASCAR and Indy racing and rarely missed an opportunity to follow his favorite drivers and events.  He also found great joy in the outdoors, spending time camping, boating and fishing.  Whether on the water, at a campsite, or watching a race, Richard appreciated life's simple pleasures and the memories made with family and friends.

Richard's presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.  His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the countless memories created over a lifetime well lived.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jennifer Artiaga, Chelcie Barger, Amy Mesa, Marie Winchell, Brittney Still, Jodie Lucero and Griselda Rodriguez from Corus Health for their compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Richard and his loved ones.  Their dedication, comfort, and professionalism during a difficult time brought peace and reassurance to the family and will always be remembered with heartfelt appreciation,
