Robert W. Hall

February 28, 1947 — February 2, 2022

With great sadness, yet with the great hope of the resurrection, we share with you that Robert W. Hall, Senior Pastor of Calvary Rio Rancho for 32 years, passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Pastor Robert and his beloved wife, Juanita, had just celebrated their 52nd anniversary seven days before. We thank God for this gifted teacher, fun-loving husband, father, and faithful friend.

Robert was born in Roswell, NM on February 28, 1947, but as the son of an Air Force Officer, he also lived in Phoenix, AZ; San Angelo, TX; Eagle Lake, FL; Matsushima, Japan; Big Spring, TX; Millbrook, AL; New Braunfels, TX; and Victorville, CA where he met his sweetheart at the base swimming pool.

A swimming scholarship helped pay for his education at the University of Oklahoma where Robert graduated with a degree in English in 1970. ROTC classes there allowed him to join the Navy as an officer, serving in Vietnam and then as an Admiral’s Aide, stationed in 1972 at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM.  With Volkswagens as his passion, in 1975 he opened an automotive repair shop called German Automotive, the Import Experts. A divine encounter at that shop in 1979 changed the direction of his life. He had found his true life’s purpose in a vibrant relationship with his Savior which later led to a calling as the pastor of Calvary Rio Rancho in September of 1987.  He sold the auto shop, was hired and then became part owner of Westwind Landscaping Company, while at the same time the Lord was adding members to the church.  The congregation seemed to love his courage in speaking to the moral issues of our day straight from the Bible, and he delighted many members of his congregation by leading 13 tours to Israel. After starting a chaplain training program with another pastor, he also served the community as a police chaplain for over 26 years.  A retirement celebration in 2020 did not mean that he ever stopped discipling other men, working with Trail Life boys, worshipping with his banjo and guitar, doing long-distance bike riding, and living God’s truth before us with boldness, integrity, and outgoing friendship.

Robert Hall will be deeply missed by a great many people, including his beloved church family; his sister, Amy McNally with her husband, Scott and their family; his sister Marilee Hall; and his own three children and their spouses: Russell and Connie Hall, Saanen and Beth Wilcox, and David and Tori Hall, plus seven grandchildren: Noah, Aurora, Hadassah, Rex, Giselle, Finn, and one on the way.

Interment will be privately held at Vista Verde Memorial Park, followed by a church-wide celebration of life memorial service and reception at 10:00AM on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Calvary Rio Rancho, 138 Frontage Road NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.

Robert Warren Hall … his winsome way just made you want what he had: a vibrant relationship with Jesus.
