Robert L. Allen, age 87, (better known as Capt. Allen) passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was born December 8, 1938, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Lloyd L. and Lillian E. Allen. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1956. He married the love of his life, Dorthy Sue Chanley. Robert was employed by Indiana State Police, Rio Rancho Public Safety and Corrales Police Department for a total of 31 years. He was a proud graduate of the F.B.I. Academy. He considered that one of his highest accomplishments. In addition to Law Enforcement, he was an author. In addition to writing, he enjoyed oil painting and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorthy Allen; parents, Lloyd and Lillian Allen; brother, Gene Allen; sister, Babe Flory.

Robert is survived by his son, Steven Allen of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; daughter, Mary Cunningham of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; daughter, Debbie Stratton of Carthage, Missouri; and sister, Ruth Kroger of Vincennes, Indiana; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place and he will remain with his family.
