Robert Russell Olufs

October 18, 1961 — July 27, 2023

Robert (Bob) Russell Olufs was born in Lake Charles, LA to Russell E. and Lucy E. (Wyatt) Olufs on October 18, 1961. Bob waged his final battle, but unexpectedly lost his war with cancer, on July 27, 2023 at the age of 61.

He is survived by his parents Russ Olufs of Tijeras, NM and Lucy Olufs of Albuquerque, NM; siblings Beth Corbin and husband Gene of Albuquerque, NM, Marcy Mcginnis and husband David of Albuquerque, NM, Ron Olufs and wife Holly of Brownwood, TX; children Robert Olufs II of KY, Ryan Olufs and wife Gabriella of NC, and Roland Hostmeyer of TX; grandchildren Isabell, Charles, Donavan, Leilani and Nicholas; nieces and nephews Tyler, Jessica, Christopher and wife Ale, Tamm and Torin; great niece and nephew Presley and Cameron; loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob, as he was known to his family and old high school buddies, or Robert as he was known to wives, girlfriends, California friends and co-workers was a force of nature, or hell, depending on who he was with. His youth was often misspent yet he served honorably in the US Navy as an ET2. His post service years were at once joyful, being a father and home in Albuquerque with family; and dark as his life choices sent him into a tailspin. But, as usual, Bob pulled it together. He moved to California reconciled with his children, met a great woman and ended up with not one but two Masters Degrees in Information Systems Management and Project Management.

A great education, good job, and great family wasn’t enough to keep Bob on the straight and narrow and he soon found himself once again struggling. And, again, he pulled himself together, moved back home to Albuquerque and spent his final years at Intel and with loving family and many wonderful veterans and veteran’s organizations.
His last dream and goals were to complete his PHD and use his knowledge and education to give back to the veteran community by attacking the veteran’s healthcare system with new ideas and networking implementation.

We all wish we could talk to you just…one…last…time!

We loved you and miss you already.
