Rolf Engleman, Jr.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, Rolf Engleman Jr., loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 86.

Rolf married the love of his life, Donna in 1956.  Rolf received a PhD in Chemistry from CalTech.  They moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico where he worked as a Chemist specializing in spectroscopy at the national laboratory.  Rolf retired early in 1987 which allowed Donna and him to have many travel adventures together and to enjoy their grandchildren.  They lived in Tucson for a couple of years but migrated back to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be closer to family in 1991.

Rolf loved all science.  He would often wake up the family to watch the rocket launches or look at the night sky to see satellites.  Rolf also loved geology (his father was a geologist) and took the family on many “rock trips” to collect rocks for Donna’s rock garden.  Another passion Rolf had was running.  He started running in his 40’s and ran many marathons.  Rolf was known for his gentle spirit and kind compassionate heart.  He loved his family and they loved him too.  He will be missed.

Rolf was preceded in death by his father, Rolf Sr.; his mother, Emma; his brother, Frank; and his son, Robert.  Rolf is survived by his wife, Donna; his brothers, Toby and Jack; his daughter, Lynn; his sons Bill (Patty), Adam (Randy), Eric, and Jon (Angela); his 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Rolf is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children.
