Rosanne Sloan

January 23, 1954 — November 8, 2021

Rosanne, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on November 8, 2021 after a yearlong struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Adrian, MN on January 23, 1954 to Florian and Mary Ann Loosbrock, Rosanne was married to Michael Sloan on May 22nd, 1976 and they lived in Willmar, MN for several years.  Rosanne, Michael and Andrew, who was 1 ½ years old, moved to New Mexico for Michael’s employment and have lived in Rio Rancho for 37 years.  Teresa and Stephen were born in 1986 and 1992 respectively.

Rosanne was a talented musician, playing trumpet in high school and being an organist at Catholic churches in Lismore and Kandiyohi, MN and the Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho, NM.  She was also a part of the music ministry at God’s People of Praise Community in Albuquerque, NM for several years.

Rosanne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in her hometown of Lismore, MN.  She was also a promoter of Couple to Couple League and coordinated marriage preparation classes at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She had an active role in the New Mexico Family Educators for many years.

In her early working years, Rosanne was a Deputy Assessor, a Tax Accountant and after moving to New Mexico, a full-time mother, family manager and supportive spouse, a job she performed exceptionally well.

Rosanne was among the first volunteers at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in 2000 and then became a full-time employee.  St. Thomas became a big part of her life and as Registrar she strove to help families with the enrollment process and tuition.   Because of her illness, Rosanne retired on September 30, 2021 with 21 years of service.

Everyone who knew Rosanne admired her commitment to her family, her dedication, patience and above all fidelity to Jesus Christ and His Church. Her faithful and holy example has touched countless souls.

Rosanne is preceded in death by her father, Florian Loosbrock and brother, Bruce Loosbrock.  She is survived by her husband Michael, children Andrew Sloan and grandchildren Gabriel and Kaitlyn; Teresa Hitchcock and husband John and grandchildren Emily, Patrick and Abigail; Stephen Sloan and wife Katrina and grandchild Olivia; her mother, Mary Ann Loosbrock, brothers Patrick (Teri) and Neal (Debbie) Loosbrock, and sisters Kay Wolf (Randy) and Nancy Wolf (Earl) and sister-in-law Brenda Loosbrock.

In honor of her 21 years of service to St. Thomas Aquinas School, Rosanne requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made towards the St. Thomas Aquinas School Scholarship Fund. The money contributed will go to families who need financial assistance to give their children a quality Catholic education.
