Rose M. Lopez** July 2, 1938 – May 1, 2026
With profound love and gratitude for her life, the family of Rose M. Lopez announces her peaceful passing, surrounded by family, on May 1, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1938, to Eddie and Andreita Martinez. After Andreita’s passing, Rose’s father remarried, and Sadie Martinez became the mother Rose grew up knowing and loving. During her early childhood, Rose also spent several formative years living with her Aunt Libby and Uncle Tito, where she was surrounded by family warmth and care.
Rose was reunited in heaven with her first love and husband, Max G. Lopez, who preceded her in death in 1994. Their love story, rooted in faith and family, remains a cherished legacy.
She leaves behind her three children and their loving spouses, who were the pride of her heart: Gale Moya & JD, Max Lopez & Michelle, and Chris Lopez & Valerie.
Rose was a devoted grandmother to Kristy Rodarte, Sandy James, Justin Moya, Branden Lopez, and Ashley Lopez, and a joyful great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Rose worked throughout her life in roles that connected her deeply to her community. She began at a drug store soda shop in Grants, NM, later worked at the Monte Carlo Restaurant—where she met her beloved Max—and spent time with the Grants Public Schools. She is most fondly remembered for her many years at Grants State Bank, where her warm smile, steady presence, and genuine care made her unforgettable.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Lucy Gallegos, Martha Murrietta, Antonia Waffen, Richard “Dickie” Martinez, Roger Martinez, Fernie Martinez, and Michelle Martinez.
Faith was the foundation of Rose’s life. She loved serving her parish at St. Theresa Catholic Church and found joy in singing with the choir. She treasured her friendships and enjoyed outings to local casinos, where laughter and companionship were always part of the day.
Services will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM, on May,12 2026, with a Viewing 8:30 am Rosary at 9:00 a.m. and Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM.
Rose’s gentle spirit, unwavering love, and quiet strength will be dearly missed. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all who were touched by her grace.
May she rest in eternal peace.
