Rose Torres

Torres, Rose 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2013 with her loving children at her side. She was born in Tokay, NM on September 25, 1920 to Isaias and Estanislada (Bustos) Romero. During World War II, Rose worked in the ship yards in Oakland Ca. and then in 1950 she married the love of her life, Tony. They moved to Socorro, began their family and became lifelong residents. Rose was a cook for NM Tech and retired after 26 years of service. Rose loved to cook and work in her yard. Above all, She was a devoted, loving, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and she was very devoted to her faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 40 years, Meliton P. "Tony" Torres; her sisters, Adela Romero; Mary Gonzales; Millie Williams; Sefie Chavez; Sara Padilla; and Mauricia Gonzales; and her brother, Fabian Romero. Rose is survived by her devoted son, Lesmen Torres; her loving daughter, Gilda Macbain; her grandchildren, Tanya Macbain; Stefanie Smallhouse and husband, Andy; Steven Macbain; Jason Torres; and Brandon Torres; her great grandchildren, Hannah Rose Smallhouse; and Johnny Smallhouse; and many other loving family members. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the Daniels Family Funeral Services - Socorro Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 10:00 am also at The Daniels Family Funeral Services - Socorro Chapel followed by the Interment, which will take place in the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
