Our special butterfly, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in El Paso, TX surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on September 24, 1940 to Manuel and Seferina (Romero) Chavez Rivera. Ruby was a resident of San Pedro since about 1972. Loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a caregiver to all. Ruby was an amazing cook and she enjoyed doing embroidery work. Her hand made blankets will remain as our keepsakes of the warmth and love she gave to us. Ruby was a "treasure hunter", and an antique collector. The true treasures, are all of the many blessings and wonderful memories she leaves with us. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her brother, Benjamin Chavez; and her sister, Gloria Duran. Ruby is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Cleto Vasquez; her loving children, Stephen Garcia and wife, Kathy; Gigi Garcia; Antoinette Addison and husband, Billy; Lynnette Castellanos and husband, Hector; Cleto "Taton" Vasquez Jr. and Jenelle; and Shawn Vasquez and Aubrey; her sisters, Rufina Chavez; and Sophie Trujillo; her brother, Ives Chavez; and all of her nieces, nephews, many other loving family members and close friends. Grandma Ruby will live on in the hearts of her beloved grandchildren, Nathaniel, Olojia, Jevon, Avery, Toyeka and Wallace, Billy, Tonya and Shawn, Ricardo, Jaime, Khalil, Andree, Brittany, and Daryn, and her 20 great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Daniels Family Funeral Services, Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM 87801, followed by Ruby's Funeral Services which will begin at 12:00pm. Interment will take place in the San Pedro Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are Stephen Garcia, Cleto Vasquez Jr, Shawn Vasquez, Jevon Ngo, Avery Ngo, and Daryn Vasquez. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Addison Sr., Hector Castellanos, Ives Chavez, Nathaniel Garcia, Ricardo Cleto, Jaime Cleto, Khalil Castellanos, Andree Castellanos, Olojia Garcia, Tonya Laurie, and Brittany Vasquez.
