Mr. Rudy Goetz died peacefully at home in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 18th,2022 at the age of 87 years.

Rudy was born on Tuesday, February 19th, 1935, in Denver, Colorado, to Elsa Schwedes and Gustave Goetz. He attended Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Rudy is a veteran, having spent two years in New York’s National Guard. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist Four (E-4).

On Saturday, August 24th, 1968, Rudy married Ms. Mary Ann Huck in Elmont, New York. They were married for over 53 years and had two children. Rudy and Mary Ann moved to Rio Rancho, NM in 1974.  Rudy was employed by SW Community Health services/ Presbyterian for over 20 years.

Rudy is survived by his son Edward and daughter-in-law Christie Goetz of Fairfax Station, Virginia, his daughter Christine and son-in-law Bryan Cain of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rebecca Goetz, Alec Goetz, Loden Cain, and Deryn Cain. Rudy is preceded in death by his mother Elsa Schwedes and his father Gustave Goetz.

Rudy was an avid sports fan who rooted for his hometown Denver Broncos, as well as the New York Yankees. Above all, his favorite sport was Baseball. Many will remember him as a fixture at Isotopes games gathering autographs. He also traveled to attend as many Spring Training games, in both Florida and Arizona, as Mary Ann would allow. The sporting events he loved most however were the youth and high school games of his children and grandchildren.

Rudy was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, serving as treasurer for many years. He was also a parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
