Gomez - Rudy (Oso) Gomez, 64 and a long-time resident of Edgewood, NM passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Rudy is the beloved husband of 31 years to Clareen Gomez. He is survived by his five children, Andrew Gomez and wife Jamie; Ryan Gomez and wife Jennifer; Christie Stephens and husband Patrick; Leslie Butcher and husband Byron; Kevin Brewster and wife Bianca; four brothers, Johnny, Michael, Ronnie and Pat; four sisters, Yolanda, Rebecca, Trish and Liza; 7 grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Rudy is the son of the late Robert (Largo) and Connie Gomez. He graduated from Rio Grande High School and went on to earn his BA in Recreation from UNM and his Masters of Arts in Counseling from Webster University. Rudy was an employee of Bernalillo County Parks and Recreation for 31 years, and became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, working as a bilingual therapist and continued to serve the families of Albuquerque. Rudy and his wife Clareen were Therapeutic Foster Parents for 11 years. He coached many of his son’s baseball and basketball teams and enjoyed supporting the wrestling careers of his boys. In his earlier years he was part of a fastpitch softball team known as the Gomez Gang. Rudy will be most remembered for his humor and wit and his undying love to his life partner, Clareen and his adoring family.A vigil and rosary will be held on Sunday, October 11th at Daniels Family Funeral Services ~ Carlisle Chapel. Public viewing will be held at 5:00 PM, followed by a eulogy and rosary at 6:00 PM. A reception will be held immediately after at Daniels Family Funeral on Carlisle. The funeral service will be at 8:30 AM on Monday, October 12th at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish, located at 2621 Vermont St NE.
