Corrales

Russell, age 68, a longtime resident of Corrales passed away Sunday January 29, 2023. He was born in Mora, NM and spent 54 years in Corrales where he raised a family, built his own home, and enjoyed team roping as his main hobby. He was a muscle car enthusiast and always enjoyed tinkering with his tractors and classic automobiles. He served his country in the Air Force and followed with a career at the Army Corps of Engineers as an Engineering Technician retiring with 33 years of government service. His strong work ethic was always recognized and he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and helping others in their time of need.   

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Laura, daughter Ginny and husband Cody Aguilar, son James and wife Tsenre Vigil; four grandchildren Laura & Lilly Aguilar, Cooper & Henley Vigil; siblings Lina Castillo, Irene and John Archuleta, Jeanette and David Paiz, Darlene and Gerard Espinoza, Andrew Vigil, David and Dawn Vigil and many nieces and nephews. Russell was preceded in death by his parents Milnor and Dolores Vigil, brother Melvin and wife Margaret Vigil, sister Magdalene and husband Seferino Lucero. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 6 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 3906 19th Ave SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
