Ruth L. Parker Bates

Farmington Ruth L. Parker Bates, 92, passed from this life September 16, 2010. She was born July 27, 1918 in Lampassas, Texas to John Dexter and Molly Belle Richter Parker. Ruth is survived by her only son, Sidney Ray (Debbie) Bates of Flora Vista; grandson, Jimmy Ray (Maxcine) Bates of Albuquerque, granddaughters, Darla Cantrell, Linda (Lawrence) Owen, Patricia Moore, Charlotte (Wade) Parker all of Farmington; one sister, Vivian Hale of Tulsa and three sisters-in-law, Beatrice Parker, Lampassas, Texas, Mary Gates Avondale, AZ, and Mattie Bates, San Angelo, Texas; as well as 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney W. Bates, her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 granddaughter Barbara Lynn Bates and great grandson, Wade Randall Moore, Jr. She moved to the Farmington area with her husband and son in 1957 from Odessa, TX with the oilfield. Ruth was a lifetime member of the United Pentecostal Church. She worked many years as a retail clerk (13 years) with Levines, after the death of her husband. She then moved to Texas and retired from Sears before returning to Farmington. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Cemetery with interment to follow immediately. The family would like to express a special thank you to Cedar Ridge for the excellent care and kindness shown to us while Ruth was in your care. Ruth’s care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Farming, 404 W. Arrington, 505-327-5142.
