Ruth "Lynne" Martel

Ruth "Lynne" Martel passed away peacefully on December 9, 2022 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Ruth “Lynne” Martel was born to Hayden P. Long and Wanda Neilson in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 22, 1953 and was the youngest of nine children.

She graduated Del Norte High School in 1971 and married Jim on June 5, 1976.

She has two sons: Michael and Aaron, two grandchildren, Isaiah and Aalyiah.

Lynne volunteered and worked at school for her children. She was the Committee Chairman for Boy Scouts Troop 17 in 1994.

Lynne was a Square Dancer for many years. She loved to sew and made many of her dancing dresses herself!

She was President of Rio Ramblers Square Dancing Club for 30 years. She was a Board Member of (NMSRDA) New Mexico Square and Round Dance Association many times. She was the Hall of Fame Award Winner in 2008 and was Assistant Coach for Rio Rancho Rookies Soccer Team. Lynne even had a role on the movie The Astronaut Farmer!

Lynne was loved by many and will be missed deeply.
