Sally Jean Kantz, 78, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024. Born in Lafayette, Indiana, on September 24, 1946, Sally was the daughter of Robert and Lucy Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bobby Dean Davis, and her beloved husband of 54 years, Harry Marion Kantz.
Sally was a cherished mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to nurturing those around her. She is survived by her three children: Bobby Kantz (Manu), Kelly Philby (Andrew), and Susie Kantz. Sally was also the proud grandmother of six: Aiden, Grace, Dylan, Simon, Jesse, and Louisa, who were the light of her life.
A lifelong caregiver, Sally spent many years as an infant teacher in childcare, shaping the lives of countless children. However, her most fulfilling role was being Grandma to her adored grandchildren. Her warmth, love, and affinity for good snacks will be remembered by all who knew her.
Sally had a deep passion for bowling and was an active member of three leagues until her passing; she will be deeply missed by her many friends and teammates she made during her bowling adventures in Indiana, Memphis, TN, Solon, OH, and Rio Rancho, NM. Sally’s perseverance was inspiring, as she returned to the sport she loved even after multiple surgeries and health complications. Bowling gave Sally immense joy and a sense of accomplishment, and she took pride in her ability to keep going despite life’s challenges.
A funeral service will be held at Daniels Funeral Home on Sara Road in Rio Rancho, NM, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 12 p.m., with burial to follow. After the service, friends and family are invited to celebrate Sally’s life at Ten Pins Bowling Alley in Rio Rancho, where food, drinks, and one last game in her honor will be shared.
