Samantha “Sama” G. Murtagh, of 6116 Natalie Ave Albuquerque, NM, died at home on July 24, 2018.

Born on November 7, 1972 in Hinsdale, IL to James Florek and Patricia Stokely, Samantha graduated from Evanston High School in Evanston, IL and the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Religious studies. She received a certification for Montessori education in 2001. In 2008, on May 31st, Sama 

married Kevin J. Murtagh. 

Sama was an elementary school teacher specializing in Montessori Education.  She was employed at the Odysseyware Academy and did Practical Home Schooling with her boys. An active member of the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living Church and navigator for cancer survivorship at the Gynecological Cancer Awareness Project (GCAP).  Sama was an enthusiastic Baseball and Scout Mom.  Sama enjoyed cooking, camping and traveling in the family RV. Recently releasing her first CD - Let It Shine, singing was her passion and dream fulfilled. Her greatest love was her husband and two active boys. They did everything together. Her family motto was ‘Better Together’.

Sama is survived by her husband Kevin John and her sons, Graham William, 9, and Patrick Kevin, 7, of Albuquerque, NM.  Also survived by her father, James Florek of Chicago, IL, her mother, Patricia Stokely of Crystal Lake, IL and her sister Melissa Barton, her husband Jon and nephews Luke, Parker, Charlie and Jake of Evergreen, CO. In addition, to her family she leaves dozens of close friends through her work in recovery and survivorship.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services will be held at Albuquerque Center of Spiritual Living at 11:00 am on August 18, 2018.  In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to GOFUNDME for Graham and Patrick.
