Samuel Luis Lucero

December 7, 1933 — November 12, 2021

Samuel Luis Lucero was called to his eternal resting place on November 12, 2021. He was a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, where he and his family lived for the last 25+ years. He passed at the age of 87.

 

Samuel was born in the small mining town of Van Houten, New Mexico, to Carolina (Griego) Lucero and Samuel Lucero on December 7, 1933. Samuel was one of 13 children. Samuel had a natural love for his family. After graduating High School in Raton, NM, Samuel wanted to protect his country and joined the Military. He enlisted in the Army, where he and his fellow soldiers learned valuable life skills.

 

After the Military, Samuel worked for the New Mexico State Highway Department. Having to travel all over the state of New Mexico for work. Samuel landed up in Santa Rosa, NM, where he eventually would meet the love of his life, MaryBelle Baros. Samuel and MaryBelle fell in love and would eventually wed on November 28, 1959 in Santa Rosa. Samuel and MaryBelle wanted a family and on May 18, 1962 they were blessed with a son Karl Anthony in Raton, NM and again on February 23, 1965 with a daughter Paula Antoinette in Santa Rosa, NM.

 

Samuel loved his family with his whole heart. Samuel was a man of God, a practicing catholic, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, a friend, a coach, a leader, a role model, a family man, an engineer, a carpenter, a craftsman, and a teacher. Samuel meant many things to many people and always tried to spread love making new friends along the way.

 

Samuel enjoyed many hobbies including craft working, playing and coaching baseball, taking drives in the family RV, camping, engineering and tinkering on small projects, working on cars, wood and metal fabrication, he also enjoyed working with his son Karl at his Rainbow business.

 

Samuel has 4 living brothers and sisters: Louise Luna, Joe Lucero, Don Lucero, and Anne Wegener. He also has many nephews, nieces, and other relatives. Samuel is survived by his only daughter Paula and husband Timothy Dominguez. He is also survived by his 7 grandsons, Nicholas, Noah, Nevan, Nathaniel and Nolan Dominguez, Connor, and Benjamin Lucero.

 

Samuel is preceded in death by his wife MaryBelle and his son Karl.

 

The services for Samuel will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on Saturday November 27, 2021. The Rosary will begin at 1:00PM, followed by a Mass Service at 1:30PM, with Burial to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park on Sara road. A small reception will be held in Pat D’Arco hall following the Burial.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
